This blog is my place to vent and share resources with other parents of children of trauma. I try to be open and honest about my feelings in order to help others know they are not alone. Therapeutic parenting of adopted teenagers with RAD and other severe mental illnesses and issues (plus "neurotypical" teens) , is not easy, and there are time when I say what I feel... at the moment. We're all human!

You have every right to your own happiness...funded by the social security you are stealing from your daughter. Why not? You "deserve" it.
In what way am I stealing my daughter's social security?
She pays a very reasonable amount for rent and living expenses -- way less than she would pay for the same thing somewhere else (assuming she could find it elsewhere). Plus, she has a generous weekly "allowance."
Rent and living expenses includes: a private bedroom, home-cooked meals, snacks and other foods, eating out 2+ times a week, toiletries and other consumables, phone and data plan, health insurance, copays, transportation, case management (paperwork, setting up and keeping appointments with doctors and state agencies), money management, medication management...
She gets a little more money if she does not live at home, but I've looked, and if you can show me any reputable therapeutic group home or other supervised living arrangement that will manage her care for this amount or less then let me know, and I will gladly sign her up!
