This blog is my place to vent and share resources with other parents of children of trauma. I try to be open and honest about my feelings in order to help others know they are not alone. Therapeutic parenting of adopted teenagers with RAD and other severe mental illnesses and issues (plus "neurotypical" teens) , is not easy, and there are time when I say what I feel... at the moment. We're all human!

Happy Mother's Day!

Hope y'all had a happy Mother's day! Bob and Ponito each made me a cake, and then they tried to make me pick which one I liked better! Truth is both of them were dry, but one had strawberries that Bob hand dipped in chocolate. I refused to tell them my choice, but Bob gave me her strawberry so...

I don't ask the adopted kids to do anything for Mother's day, but Grandma made it easy so Kitty, Bob and Ponito all made me mugs each with a picture of that child and I hugging (from last year).

Bear decided to make me a video (spent hours and hours on it), but it was weirdly random and was mostly pictures of me at my sister's wedding flashing back to a pic of him with a neighbor child (both wearing jewelry from the game Pretty Pretty Princess)?!

All in all it was a lovely day. I got to sleep in, and except for eating way too much yummy chicken parmesan (thanks Mom!!) and waaaay too much chocolate cake, oh and running out of cheese for the pizza for dinner, it was great! (I actually got to go to the store with my great friend and neighbor and we might have a plan for getting us through the Summer!). Plus, I got to put my evil side to work and help her think of an appropriate consequence for one of her kid's behavior. I can't wait to hear how our evil plan works out!
